Mrs. Brianna Chapin
Mrs. Brianna Chapin is the proud principal of Southampton Township School #1. She began her career as a middle school world language teacher in 2008 before transitioning to Southampton in 2010. She began in Southampton as a second grade special education teacher, working diligently to make the curriculum accessible to all of her students and instilling in them a love of learning. She also taught in Southampton’s Kindergarten Readiness Program during the summer, designing play-based activities to help our incoming kindergarteners acquire foundational reading and math skills. In 2013, she transitioned to administration as the district’s curriculum director, working closely with her fellow colleagues to enhance the K-5 reading and writing curriculum – now Reading and Writing Workshop. In November of 2017, she was hired as the School #1 Principal and is incredibly grateful for the privilege of serving our School #1 community. Her mission is to show our students what a blessing they are and to inspire them to be their very best. Her favorite part of being a principal is interacting with so many students, teachers, and parents each day.
Mrs. Chapin grew up in the neighboring town of Shamong and after graduating high school, she completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). She double-majored in Spanish and Special Education, participated in club athletics and intramurals, played in instrumental ensembles, took on multiple educational internships, and studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. She graduated with honors, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Master’s Degree is Special Education. Mrs. Chapin later earned her certification in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley College in conjunction with full-time teaching, and she hopes to continue her education in the future.
Mrs. Chapin resides in Southampton Township with her husband, AJ, and her two young children, Abraham and Annabeth. They love spending family time reading, playing games, serving in their church, enjoying the outdoors, and more. Some family favorites in the Chapin household include: games / activities - Pokémon Go, basketball, searching for treasure, and riding bikes; foods - mac and cheese, pizza, blueberries, and raspberries; places to go - the shore, Johnson’s Farm, and anywhere with a playground; movies / TV - The Good Dinosaur, Wreck It Ralph, and Pokémon; books - The Giving Tree, Chicken Soup with Rice, Three Billy Goats Gruff (and more). Mrs. Chapin is so thankful for the opportunity her and her husband have to be their children’s first teachers, and what better way to teach than to learn and play along with their kids!
