Superintendent's Message

Dear Southampton Township Community,

Happy New (School) Year! We are beyond excited to begin a new school year, and on behalf of the staff, administrative team, and Board of Education, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the 2022-2023 school year to all of our families in the community.

I am enjoying my second year as the superintendent of the district, my fifth year as a district staff member, and my twentieth year in education. I have been a teacher and an instructional leader in a few districts, and I am proud to say Southampton tops my list! Our district has earned a reputation for academic excellence. My administrative team, faculty, and staff will continue to work hard to lay the groundwork to build upon our district’s tradition of excellence. The last two years presented some unexpected challenges for our entire community. It was our resilience and determination that allowed us to overcome those obstacles. As we embark on our next journey together, I understand there may be some trepidation and anxiety. Fear of the unknown is always paralyzing. Please know STSD has an amazing staff that works tirelessly to meet the educational goals of our students while ensuring a safe and healthy environment. Our faculty members are devoted to ensuring our students have opportunities to explore their interests and find their true passions, and I am confident that we will continue to blaze a trail together marked by successes and accomplishments.

Our district is full of passionate educators who want what is best for our students. Our focus on children as individuals and building meaningful relationships elevates their capacity to learn which can only result in realizing optimal outcomes for all children and educators. I am delighted for all this new school year has to offer and hope to work collectively with many of you to ensure that our students are provided with the best educational experience possible. I sincerely believe when all of us come together, we can make a difference.

One small note in regards to our health and safety protocols. We are moving forward with optional masking; students are not required to wear a mask while in school. If this changes for any reason, you will be notified immediately. Please check our district website for protocol updates.

Thank you for your continued support. Your participation in the education process is welcomed and encouraged. I promise I will work diligently, and together we will overcome any challenges we face for the betterment of our children. It is going to be another amazing year and a bright future!

Sincerely,

Asia Michael
