Southampton Township Enrichment Program (STEP)

Our Southampton Township Enrichment Program (STEP) is designed to provide a hands-on, investigative approach to learning for student in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

 

Students in Kindergarten and First Grade experience STEP with their entire class during an enrichment period. The students enjoy solving engineering challenges, coding with robots, and working to build their brains by learning about ways to think.

 

In 2nd - 5th Grade, STEP is offered as a pull-out program 3 days a week to those students who have been selected for the program. The selection process begins at the end of the prior school year by using the data provided from the spring benchmark assessments in reading and math. The top 15% of each grade and any other students recommended by teachers are invited to test. With parent permission, these students are assessed using  SAGES-2 and OLSAT. All of the indicators are entered into a matrix and based upon the total matrix score, students may be invited to participate in the STEP class.. Typically, notification letters are sent in the middle of September.
